CLUB GOVERNANCE 101: 5 things every incorporated cricket club in Perth should have sorted
Off-season is admin season. Before the new year kicks off, here's your quick compliance checklist to keep your club in good standing with Consumer Protection WA:
1️⃣ Submit your Annual Information Statement (AIS) Every incorporated association has to lodge one each year — it's due within 6 months of your financial year ending. It confirms you're still active, eligible to stay incorporated, and that you've held your AGM. Skip it two years running and Consumer Protection can start the process to cancel your incorporation. 🏏 Quick guide below
2️⃣ Hold your AGM on time Your rules set the timeframe — don't let it slide. Your AIS actually asks whether you've held it, so these two go hand in hand.
3️⃣ Keep your office holder & member records current Names, contact details and positions for your committee (plus anyone who can use the common seal) need to be up to date and ready to show a member if they ask.
4️⃣ Notify any change of details within 28 days New postal address? Change of public officer? Consumer Protection needs to know within 28 days of the change.
5️⃣ Renew your insurance with Marsh Sports Most clubs certificate of currency through Marsh may have expired. Please follow the steps to renew your Certificate of Currency and keep it handy. 🏏 Quick guide below
None of this needs to be scary — a spare hour with your committee and a shared calendar with these dates on it will keep your club compliant all year round.
