Finals Eligibility & Open Selection – Important Information

Hope everyone is having a great season and congratulations on the teams who look like they will be playing finals.

With finals not far away hopefully you have all be keeping an eye on your qualifications.

To play finals:

A player must have played 6 playing days during the season. So if a player starts this week they will not be qualified for finals and will be ineligible.

Once a player has played 6 days in any grade they will be qualified to play that grade in finals even if they play more days in a higher grade throughout the season.

If a player does not play 6 days in any one grade they will be qualified for the grade they have played the most days in. Example A Div 3 days, B Div 4 days and C Div 3 days this player is qualified for B Div and above.

If a player does not play 6 days in any one grade and plays equal amount of games in other grades they will be qualified for the highest grade. Example A Div 3 days, B Div 3 days and C Div 3 days this player is qualified for A Div only.

Any player can play in a higher grade during finals than they were qualified in. Example Qualified for F Div can play D Div however can not play H Div unless club has open selection.

Open Selection:

If your club has multiple teams in finals and your club's 2nd and 3rd team make the finals, a player who is qualified in the 2nd team can play in your club's 3rd team finals.

Example

Club has A Div, D Div and F Div and A Div and F Div only make finals no open selection.

Club has A Div, D Div and F Div and D Div and F Div only make finals, A D Div qualified player can play F Div as part of open selection.

Club has A Div, D Div and F Div and A Div and D Div only only make finals, A A Div qualified player can play D Div as part of open selection.

Club has A Div, D Div and F Div and all teams make finals, A A Div qualified player can play D Div as part of open selection and D Div qualified player could play F Div.

If a player is selected in a lower grade as part of open selection and plays in the semi final and the team they are qualified for is eliminated they can remain in the team for the grand final.
