Mel Mayers declaring his innings soon...

Writer: jezz179jezz179

One of Ascots longest serving players/committee members has announced his retirement from cricket and this Saturday could potentially be his last game if the team he plays in loses!

I don't think there are too many people thoughout the PCA and the MCA before that, that don't know Melvyn and all of us would like to congratulate him on a fantastic career and the contribution he has made. We appreciate this opportunity to wish him well and hope to still see him at Middleton Park for years to come. His stats are quite staggering........ 37 years in Club cricket.

Melvyn’s stats for Ascot (including the current game) are:

355 matches, 3036 runs @ 11.12, 546 wickets @ 15.18, 115 catches, 17 run outs

Melvyn’s stats for Ascot & Belmont are:

507 matches, 4341 runs @ 10.56, 864 wickets @ 16.23, 159 catches, 17 run outs

Melvyn started with Ascot in 1995/96 and started with Belmont in 1981/82. Former President and now Treasurer of the Ascot Cricket club for 19 years. Bar manager since 1900's, all round good bloke!
